Besides his Sport Education University (2006) degree, he holds a variety of professional certifications, including those in basketball and football. He obtained multi-sport certificates from the Australian Sport Commission in 2020. Marko has resided and worked in China for six years. He held successive positions as a PE teacher at Wenxing Middle School in Jingzhou, Hubei Province, and as a basketball instructor and physical education teacher at Suzhou Foreign Language School.
